About The Whisky Cellar Release This Teaninich 12 Year Old from The Whisky Cellar was released as part of the Private Cellars Selection, showcasing the distillery’s elegant Highland spirit through the clean, focused influence of a single bourbon cask. Distilled in November 2007 and bottled in August 2020, this single malt matured in a single ex-bourbon hogshead, a cask style that allows Teaninich’s naturally light and slightly grassy spirit to develop with clarity and precision. Bourbon maturation suits the distillery particularly well, enhancing citrus, vanilla, and floral notes without masking the spirit’s delicate structure. Teaninich Distillery is often recognised for producing a clean, textural distillate with subtle waxy and floral qualities, and this bottling leans fully into that refined side of the spirit. Rather than heavy oak or dense sweetness, the whisky focuses on balance, freshness, and elegant detail. On the nose, soft vanilla and delicate mocha coffee create an inviting opening, with a gentle sweetness that remains poised rather than rich. The palate develops into lemon meringue pie, toasted coffee beans, buttery shortbread, and exotic floral notes, giving the whisky both vibrancy and finesse. As it evolves, the citrus and floral elements become more pronounced, carrying beautifully into the finish. The finish is long yet remarkably gentle, lingering with lemon zest, white chocolate, and delicate Japanese garden-style florals that add an almost perfumed elegance to the whisky’s final moments. Bottled at cask strength (58.2% ABV), with natural colour and without chill filtration, this is a whisky that combines intensity with delicacy in an impressive way. With a limited outturn of 270 bottles, it remains a refined and quietly distinctive Highland single malt. An elegant bourbon-matured Teaninich - bright, floral, and beautifully composed, with subtle complexity and excellent balance throughout.
